Cassidy Wolf Nude Images: Fighting NSFW Naked Photo Webcam Hack, Helping Victims of Pics

When Cassidy Wolf, the former Miss Teen USA 2013, received an email which included two nude photos of her that were taken through the webcam on her computer while undressed in her bedroom, she didn’t know what to do. She was a sextortion victim, or a person who has had naked photos of them taken – either with or without their consent – and then suffered the wrath of a person blackmailing them over the naked photos.

As reported by NBC News, Cassidy learned to fight back against the culprit of the illegal naked photos, when it was uncovered that the hacker who took the naked pics turned out to be a former classmate, Jared Abrahams. The hacker ended up getting charged with three counts of extortion and one count of unauthorized access, and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

After her experience, Cassidy began working for SnoopWall, a cyber-security company that has a privacy flashlight app that the Daily Mail reports isn’t one that steals your privacy, like other free flashlight apps. Cassidy is an advocate who helps others who’ve had their naked photos stolen.

“Please talk to somebody,” Cassidy urges other girls who are the victims of the same type of naked photo leaks.

One low-tech way to prevent hackers from illegally turning on webcams on laptops or the cameras on your smartphone is to cover your camera with a non-see-through sticker when not in use. The Washington Post reported that it was a tool called Blackshades that was sold for around $40 that helped infect more than 500,000 computers with spying software, which helped users turn on webcams and wait for the moment to importune them and take naked pics when the users didn’t realize their webcams were remotely activated. This reporter has seen forums full of photos of folks picking their noses or performing other embarrassing activities when hackers turned on the users webcams and took photos of the victims. Blackshades tool users and those creating and using similar spying software have been arrested, and the FBI issued a report showing users how to check if their computers were infected.

As reported by the Inquisitr, hackers who break into a person’s digital library or webcam and extract naked photos can face serious trouble, as was the case of Christopher Chaney, a 35-year-old man who not only sent naked photos of one woman to her father, but was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in the nude images leak of celebrities like Scarlett Johansson and Christina Aguilera, says CBS News.
