Aishwarya Rai was born on 1 November 1973 in India. She also
known as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is an Indian movie actress and model.
Aishwariyaa is a South Indian actress who has acted in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu movies. She is the daughter of popular actress Lakshmi.
Born as Shanta Meena Bhaskar, to Malayali father K Bhaskaran and actress Lakshmi. She has a half-sister from her mother's second marriage. She was married to Tanveer, but later got divorced. The couple have a daughter Anaina.
Nyaayangal jeykattum was her debut movie which was made by her mother Laxmi and her stepfather Sivachandran. It was followed Oliyampukal (1990) which was Aishwarya's first released movie. And then Mamagaru (1991), Rasukutty (1992) and Meera (1992). She played double role in Butterflies (1993) and also in Gardish (1993) which was remake of Malayalam movie Kireedam. She works in a computer firm and occasionally acts in movies.[3] She is now also acting in the Malayalam serial Paarijatham being broadcast in Asianet in which she does the role of Lalitha Bhai.

has become one of Bollywood's highest-paid actresses. She has received several
awards and nominations, including two “Moviefare Awards”, and was awarded with
the “Padma Shri” by the Indian Government in 2009, and the “Ordre des Arts et
des Lettres” by the French Government in 2012. She is regarded as one of the
most popular and prominent Bollywood celebrities in India, and is often cited
in the media as the "Most beautiful woman in the world".
Aishwarya Rai was the
first runner-up of the “Miss India Beauty Pageant”, and the winner of the “Miss
World Beauty Pageant “of 1994. She made her acting debut in the 1997
biographical movie, “Iruvar” and was starred in the 1998 supper hit movie “Jeans”,
which was India's official entry for “71st Academy Award” for Best Foreign
Language Movie. She earned wide public recognition and Best Actress awards at Moviefare
for her leading roles in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 1999 melodrama “Hum Dil De
Chuke Sanam” and the 2002 period movie “Devdas”. She gained critical
appreciation for her portrayal of Tagore's heroine Binodini in Rituparno
Ghosh's 2003 movie Chokher Bali, and a depressed woman in Ghosh's 2004
relationship drama Raincoat. Following a series of commercially unsuccessful movies,
Rai featured in the 2006 blockbuster adventure movie Dhoom 2. In 2008 she was
starred in the historical romance Jodhaa Akbar, and the thriller movie, Sarkar
Raj. In 2010 she has appeared in science fiction, magnum opus Enthiran. She
garnered wide critical acclaim for her work in Bhansali's 2010 romantic drama
Guzaarish.
Her off-screen roles include duties as a brand ambassador
for several charity organisations and campaigns; she is a Goodwill Ambassador
for the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). Following a tumultuous
relationship with actor Salman Khan, Rai married actor Abhishek Bachchan in
2007 and has a daughter.
