The third part of Shah Rukh Khan’s Don franchise has been dissected and bisected enough ever since Ritesh Sidhwani said that he is ‘thinking’ about its script five months back. And just like us, if you have been waiting eagerly as well, this update should make you feel slightly better as the producer confirmed, at the very least, on Wednesday that the film will be made. But these scripts you see are what is making them “think” so much.
Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment bought the rights of Don (1978 film anchored by Amitabh Bachchan) and remade it with Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra. The first part of the film released in 2006 while Don 2 released in 2011 with SRK and Priyanka reprising their roles.

"For any sequel or prequel or third part of a franchise film, say for Don, the character is very important... Even I am eagerly awaiting but I think we need to find the right script. Are we going to make it? The answer is yes. I don't exactly know the time,” Ritesh said at an event in Mumbai.
"We have started thinking very seriously about Don 3 and we are toying with ideas. We will make it and hopefully it will be very soon," he added.
In June, Ritesh had told news agency PTI that he was “thinking really hard” about the project.
"We are thinking about Don 3 and we are thinking very hard on it. We have found the right idea. It's being written now. We will make an official announcement soon," Ritesh had told PTI in June.
Ritesh, however, did not reveal whether Farhan Akhtar will direct Don 3, who had also directed the first two parts.
As for Shah Rukh Khan, the 52-year-old actor has never uttered a word on Don 3 and we do not expect from him either. It’s just Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, who can do the needful, at their “right time.”
Shah Rukh Khan, meanwhile, is busy filming Aanand L Rai’s film with Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Ritesh Sidhwani, on the other hand, is busy promoting his production house Excel Entertainment’s new film, Fukrey Returns, scheduled for release on December 15.
