It has been reported that a Love Island couple – who met on this summer’s series – have had a sex tape stolen from them following a robbery at a petrol station in Peterborough.
It’s claimed the stars featuring on the tape had been hoping to sell the footage for £100,000 and are now offering a financial reward for the video’s safe return, with one Twitter user suggesting it belongs to Jess Shears and her co-star fiancé Dom Lever.
However, the reality beauty was quick to deny the claims and defiantly hit back on social media, insisting the tape has nothing to do with herself and Dom.
Reacting to reports of the explicit footage being stolen, one social media user had tagged Jess and Dom’ Twitter handles and accused the couple of being involved with the tape.
They penned: ‘@Jessica_Rose_UK @_DomLever 184740373738 % HAS TO BE THEM.’
Clearly hitting a nerve, Jess – who has found herself mocked on social media, along with beau Dom, for plugging several products online and hosting a number of meet and greets since leaving the Love Island villa – was quick to respond.
She denied the tape had anything to do with her and fired back:I know you want it to be us but unfortunately it’s not sweetheart.’
'I know you want it to be us but it's not': Jess had posted a sassy response to the Twitter user and insisted the sexually explicit tape has nothing to do with her
Jess then added a sassy remark that read:’Your judge of character is as good as your maths #percentagesareoutof100.’
MailOnline have contacted a representative for Jess.
She and Dom found love on the third series of ITV2 dating series Love Island, but their relationship was cut short, as she was booted early on from the villa. Jess then found herself at the centre of speculation she had bedded her co-star Mike Thalassitis on their joint exit, but the duo continuously denied the claims and insisting nothing happened.
Moving on from the rumours, she and Dom picked up their relationship when he left the show a few weeks later and since their relationship has been going from strength to strength.
So much so, that the pair are now set to wed, as Dom had asked Jess to marry her back in September, with the couple announcing their engagement in an interview with OK! magazine.
Jess told the publication: ‘We were staying in a lovely apartment in London. Dom filled it with flowers and had got us a bottle of champagne.
‘I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat when Dom got down on one knee – he said afterwards that he had never seen me smile like that!’
Her outburst on Twitter, meanwhile, comes after The Mirror reported the sexually explicit video was taken from the car of publicist Rob Cooper. He was given the footage by the couple that feature in the clip – that was made in August – and police are now said to be investigating.
Discussing the devastating theft, Rob told the publication that the laptop and three SD cards – which held the footage – were left on the passenger side of his car in a laptop sleeve when they were taken.
At the time, he was speaking to another client on the phone, via handsfree, when he pulled into the service station and spent 10 minutes away from his car.
When he returned back to his car, he noticed that the door was left ‘slightly jarred open’ but didn’t think too much of it as his Louis Vuitton backpack was still on the back seat.
However, it wasn’t until he arrived home that he noticed that the laptop sleeve and its contents had been stolen.
MailOnline have contacted Rob Cooper for comment.
On record: According to the Mirror, the sexually explicit video was taken from the pair's publicist's car at the motorway service station and Police are said to be investigating the incident
The publicist claimed that the reality couple wanted to release the footage ‘on the condition it was worth more than 100k’ and had been in the process of talking to Vivid Entertainment, who released Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton’s sex tapes.
‘Since that day, the card has not left my side unless they have been locked in a car or a safe,’ Rob told the publication. ‘If the images get into the wrong hands, they could be uploaded online, that’s why we’ve decided to make it public and offer a generous reward for their safe return of the individually coded bag.
‘The images are worthless to anyone who may have them, they are classed as stolen goods and if the images were to be uploaded then the vendor is committing revenge porn, which is obviously illegal.’
Reward: The couple had given publicist Rob Cooper the footage - which was made in August - and in the wake of the theft he has offered a financial reward for its safe return
He added: ‘The footage was filmed by the couple in early August, it was filmed in an amateur manner with the intent to be marketed around the world via the internet.’
Rob – who is putting half of the reward up with the couple – has placed a reward of £25,000 which will be paid in one single payment if the seal on the card has not been broken.
Yet if the contents have been tampered with he will make a first payment of £10,000 with three additional yearly payments of £5,000 as long as the footage doesn’t end up on the internet.
