Priyanka Chopra collapsed on the sets of Sanjay Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani on Friday, while she was in the middle of delivering a four-page-long monologue.
The actor complained of dizziness before the cameras rolled on the Film City set and fainted while delivering her take. She was so weak after the incident that the shoot had to be stopped for six hours and a doctor was called to appraise the situation.
A source from the set told Mirror, "Everyone present was very scared. Her face was sprinkled with water and thankfully she opened her eyes quickly."
Priyanka plays Kashibai in the period romance, which also stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, and the she had to spend four hours in wardrobe and makeup before the shoot. Added the source, "Plus, this particular scene, during which she fainted, took 10 retakes. Kabhi light barabar nahin thi, kabhi kisine sync sound disturb kar diya. Add to this the heavy lighting on the sets and the four-page long monologue. The process was very physically draining."
On Tuesday, the actress took to Twitter to say that she was depleted by the "intense" role but this is not the first time that Priyanka has fainted mid-shoot.
Her health first raised an alarm in April 2009, when she fainted on the sets of Ashutosh Gowariker's What's Your Rashee? At the time, her mother had rushed to the sets along with a doctor. Though Gowariker had wanted to pack-up after the incident, Priyanka insisted on completing her shots.
A couple of days after the incident, Priyanka complained of an aching stomach and had to be rushed to the hospital from the set. In August 2009, Priyanka fainted again. This time at a promotional event for Kaminey held at an Andheri multiplex.
And in January 2012, she had to cancel her performance at Umang, the annual show organised by Mumbai Police, after a sudden bout of dizziness.
