"I grew up on a farm… I'd watch my grandfather shoot our pigs in the head. It was horrifying -- until we'd eat them." - Odette Yustman
Odette Yustman has appeared in a wide range of TV and film projects, the most noteworthy being her lead role in Cloverfield. She also had parts in several big-name movies, including South Beach, Transformers and October Road. Her 2010 roles in the crime thriller And Soon the Darkness, the romantic comedy You Again and the television series Brothers & Sisters and Breaking In finally made Yustman a household name -- unless you happen to work at AskMen, where she's been a highly regarded household name for years.
Physical Appeal
As a former model, Odette Yustman has the beauty to shine and the body to stun. With a 5'7" frame, she has long brown hair and matching eyes that come from her predominantly Cuban/Colombian background. Is it any wonder why the gang in Cloverfield was willing to walk through monster-infested Manhattan to find her? We would, too.
Yustman's television and cinematic exploits have given rise to some solid internet and print exposure in return. As a result of her Cloverfield appearance, Odette Yustman turned heads with a sexy GQ photo spread. She's also appeared as a cover model for Vanidades, spiced up Maxim Online and was selected by movie website Latino Review as No. 1 on their Five New Hottest Latinas in Film list.
Success
Cloverfield's camera might have been shaky, but all eyes could still focus on Odette Yustman's natural screen presence and acting abilities -- or maybe it was her ridiculous beauty that had our attention. Either way, we liked what we saw. Although she's just starting to carve her very own slice of the entertainment pie, this California-born siren started in showbiz before the age of 5 alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. She also has a solid list of collaborators on her resume.
To date, Yustman's developing list of film and TV credits include names like Sigourney Weaver, Kristen Bell, Jennifer Lopez, Gary Oldman, Laura Prepon, and Antonio Sabato Jr., with more on the way. At this point, Yustman is splitting her time between the small and big screens, but her newest TV series, FOX's Breaking In, in which she plays a motorcycle-riding lock picker on a team of security breaking hackers, might just prove to be the breakout role she's been waiting for. After the monstrous success of Cloverfield and the potential of her new show, you'll be seeing a lot more of this stunner in 2011.
Odette Yustman Biography
On May 10, 1985, Odette Juliette Yustman was born in Los Angeles, California. Thanks to her Cuban mom, Lydia and Italian-French father, Victor, Yustman was blessed with an ideal blend of beauty. Before she could be famous, she had to go to school first -- on screen. As a precocious student in the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle Kindergarten Cop, Yustman savored her first taste of acting and continued the hobby intermittently in films like Dear God and TV movies like Remembrance.
Although she was testing the waters for a future in entertainment, Yustman wanted to finish her education first, and her California upbringing culminated in her graduation from Woodcrest Christian High School. With her schooling out of the way, Yustman got into modeling while seeking out more acting roles. Yustman's next role would be her first big leap forward.
Odette Yustman on south beach
2006 marked Odette Yustman's big showbiz break when she won a lead role on the UPN drama South Beach. As a feisty model on the Jennifer Lopez-produced series, the role promised big things for Yustman. The show did give her some online recognition as a frequently searched celebrity, but the ratings didn't hold any water and the series was canceled.
Although South Beach was only a short-lived career boost, Yustman jumped right back into acting with a steamy performance opposite Antonio Sabato Jr. in Lifetime's Reckless Behavior: Caught on Tape. Yustman's sexy role had her playing a respected teacher on a Spring Break fling that comes back to haunt her. By 2007, Yustman was on a recurring TV series again, this time playing the gifted writer Aubrey on the Laura Prepon and Bryan Greenberg-led series October Road. Yustman was grateful for the steady work, but she wanted some films to go along with it, and the next year would grant her all of her cinematic wishes.
Odette Yustman in cloverfield and brothers & sisters
By mid-2007, Odette Yustman had already wrapped up a bit part in Transformers when she auditioned for a role in Cloverfield, a top-secret film from producer J.J. Abrams. She had no knowledge of the movie's plot before signing on, but the resulting media hype for the film made Yustman a more visible face.
Not content with taking on the robust dangers of the Cloverfield monster, Yustman fought more evil foes in 2009 in The Unborn, playing a woman possessed by demons. Remind you of a certain someone in Jennifer's Body? Not at all. Odette is carving out a name all of her own. Her 2010 roles in You Again and And Soon the Darkness, a horror flick that costars the equally beautiful Amber Heard, meant more visibility for the young actress.
Yustman proved her staying power with the four-time Golden Globe-nominated series Brothers & Sisters, which has been on air since 2006. She also met her husband, Dave Annable, on the show, and the two tied the knot in October 2010.She know officially goes by the name "Odette Annable."

Yustman said that she's always dreamed of a role like Melanie, and when it comes to whom she'd love to play she said, "I've always said some sort of Angela Jolie-ish bad ass, but I'm getting to do that which is unbelievable to me. It's exciting that I haven't been stereotyped and get to do different things."
